Trabzon Chamber of Commerce calls for urgent SME financial support

The Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TTSO) hosted an information meeting regarding the “Support and Transformation for SMEs” program, coordinated by KOSGEB under the Ministry of Industry and Technology. The summit included KOSGEB President Ahmet Serdar İbrahimcioğlu, TTSO President Erkut Çelebi, bank executives, and various business representatives.

During the meeting, TTSO President Erkut Çelebi issued an urgent call for financial assistance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), stating that businesses are currently in a very difficult position. Çelebi emphasized that support must be implemented within weeks rather than months to prevent irreversible damage to the economic backbone of the region. He specifically called for accessible, long-term, and affordable financing, as well as support for employment, technological investment, and exports.

Furthermore, Çelebi advocated for “positive discrimination” for SMEs in Anatolian cities like Trabzon, arguing that they face different economic conditions compared to major metropolitan areas like Istanbul and require specialized support mechanisms.
