Trabzon Cultural Road Festival showcases theater and 5,000‑year‑old kazaziye craft

The Turkey Cultural Road Festival continued its eighth day in Trabzon with two highlighted programs. A stage adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s short stories, titled “İnsancıklar” and rewritten by Özdemir Nutku, was presented by the Trabzon State Theatre, exploring class conflict and moral dilemmas through the lives of struggling characters.

At the same venue, the Trabzon Museum hosted a hands‑on kazaziye workshop, demonstrating the ancient silver‑thread embroidery technique that artisans say dates back roughly five millennia from Central Asia to Anatolia. Participants, including local residents and foreign visitors such as an American tourist, learned to produce traditional patterns and created a souvenir called the “aşk düğümü” (love knot) necklace. The events were organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as part of the broader Trabzon Cultural Road Festival, which also features music performances and evening theatre shows.
