Trabzon fishermen prepare for September season, eyeing high palamut haul

Fishermen in the Çarşıbaşı district of Trabzon are completing boat and net maintenance at Yoroz port ahead of the Black Sea fishing season that opens on 1 September. They report that weather conditions are favourable and that preparations, including painting, repairs and equipment replacement, will continue until the start date.

Boat owners such as Resul Yılmaz said, "Season is finished. We are doing maintenance and repairs. Our expectation is high. Hopefully palamut will be there and hamsi as well." Similarly, Rahmi Şahin noted that net work is finished and that the vessels are being readied for a productive season. The fishermen, many from fourth‑generation families, hope for a bountiful catch after a previous season with high effort but limited profit.
