Trabzon increases registered local products to 16
Trabzon has increased its number of geographically indicated products to 16 following the registration of Trabzon Ice Cream by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. This certification aims to protect the production characteristics of the city's unique goods and preserve its gastronomic and artisanal heritage for future generations.
The city's registered products span various categories, including food items such as Akçaabat Köftesi, Hamsiköy Sütlacı, Sürmene Pidesi, and Vakfıkebir Ekmeği, as well as traditional handicrafts like the Sürmene Knife and Trabzon Kazaziyesi. These designations are expected to bolster local economic contributions and enhance gastronomy tourism.
In Tokat, the traditional dish known as 'bat' remains a significant part of the local culinary culture. This dish, typically prepared with green lentils, fine bulgur, vegetables, and walnuts, is often served with boiled grape leaves and village bread, representing the region's unique food identity.
