Trabzon Mayor seeks enhanced ties with Iran and Russia

Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç met with the Consuls General of Iran and Russia to discuss strengthening international relations through trade, tourism, culture, and transportation.

During discussions with Iranian Consul General Hossein Khosravi, officials focused on reviving commercial ties and re-establishing a sister-city relationship with Tabriz, which existed approximately 25 years ago. The importance of maintaining direct flights between Trabzon and Iran was also highlighted as a key driver for regional tourism and economic activity.

In meetings with Russian Consul General Aleksandr Kantemirov, the dialogue centered on increasing international connections and managing significant investments within Trabzon. The meetings aimed to leverage Trabzon’s strategic position to enhance economic and social cooperation with both neighboring nations.
