Trabzon Metro Project Progresses in Turkey
Work is accelerating on the Trabzon Metro project, a rail system designed to transform urban transportation in the city. During a recent evaluation meeting involving Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, and contractor representatives, officials discussed the current status of construction, site setups, and upcoming phases.
The planned 16.5-kilometer line will connect Akyazı to the airport, with much of the route running underground. Current activities include work at the Avni Aker Millet Bahçesi Station and preparations for tunnel entrance construction near the Uzunkum 2 Station. Facilities for producing tunnel segments are also being established to ensure continuous construction.
Separately, Sivas is preparing for the Bozkurt Nostalgic Tramway Project. This approximately 3.5-kilometer line is intended to support both local transport and tourism by connecting the high-speed train station area with key central locations, including Istasyon Caddesi and Atatürk Caddesi. The project has been included in next year’s budget.
