Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality faces directorate appointment delays

Following a restructuring at the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality, several key directorate positions remain vacant. Notably, the Science, Technology, and Innovation Branch Directorate under the Department of Youth and Sports Services has been without leadership for months.

Reports suggest that the Youth Services Branch Directorate and the Sports Branch Directorate are currently being managed by the same individual. The delay in appointments is reportedly due to internal political maneuvering and conflicting expectations from various circles, as officials attempt to avoid potential backlash from different groups regarding specific appointments.

While Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç is known for prioritizing meritocracy, there are concerns that he may not be receiving complete or accurate information regarding these administrative gaps, which could impact the municipality's ability to address modern needs such as artificial intelligence and innovation.
