Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Council addresses local projects and Trabzonspor support

The Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Council held its October meetings, addressing a variety of local political, social, and infrastructural issues.

In a notable political development, council members from different parties proposed a joint declaration to support Trabzonspor and its president, Ertuğrul Doğan, following recent national media controversies and investigations involving the Central Referee Board (MHK). Additionally, discussions arose regarding coal storage at the Trabzon Port and the relocation of the Art House, with calls to prevent economic hardship for local workers.

Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç outlined several major urban projects, including the development of the South Ring Road, the expansion of the rail system, and the completion of the Of Canyon project. He also highlighted upcoming cultural events such as the Trabzon Gastronomy Festival and the Altın Taka Trabzon Film Festival.

Internal council tensions were also observed, specifically a verbal dispute between Mayor Ahmet Kaya of Ortahisar and Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç regarding the right to speak during sessions. On the infrastructure front, requests were made for underground waste containers in the Söğütlü neighborhood to match its development level.
