Trabzon politicians clash over election seat projections

Political tensions have escalated in Trabzon following comments made by AK Party Member of Parliament Adil Karaismailoğlu. Karaismailoğlu stated that while the party secured four seats in the last election, they could have achieved five, noting that the fifth seat was split between the AK Party and two smaller parties. He expressed an ambition to increase the party's representation to five or six seats in future elections.

İYİ Party Member of Parliament Yavuz Aydın issued a sharp rebuke of these remarks, labeling them ‘insolent and disrespectful.’ Aydın criticized Karaismailoğlu for what he described as an arrogant assumption regarding the will of the voters in Trabzon.

Aydın challenged the AK Party's record in the region, questioning whether the current representatives have fulfilled promises regarding the Erzincan-Trabzon railway, the Investment Island project, local traffic issues, and economic support for hazelnut producers. He warned that voters have the power to revoke their support in upcoming elections if local needs and promises remain unaddressed.
