Trabzon Ticaret Lisesi celebrates 102nd anniversary
Trabzon Ticaret Lisesi, currently known as Şehit Ünal Bıçakçı Ticaret Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi, celebrated its 102nd anniversary with a traditional ‘Pilav Günü’ alumni gathering in Trabzon.
Founded on April 18, 1924, as Trabzon Orta Tacim Mektebi, the institution was one of six commercial high schools established across Turkey following the decisions of the Izmir Economic Congress. The event brought together former teachers, students, and alumni, including Erkut Çelebi, President of the Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
A central part of the celebration was the introduction and signing ceremony for a 730-page book titled ‘Trabzon Ticaret Lisesi in its 100th Year’. Coordinated by researcher and journalist İsmail Fandaklı, the book serves as an archival record of the school’s century-long educational journey, including its founding process, historical development, and the memories of its notable graduates.
