Trabzon welcomes Chinese delegation to expand tourism and investment

During the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Turkey and the People’s Republic of China, Chinese Ambassador to Turkey Jiang Xuebin visited the Black Sea city of Trabzon. He met with Trabzon Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç and local officials, emphasizing the need to strengthen city‑level ties and develop new cooperation in tourism, trade, transport and investment.

The delegation discussed the recently opened Forapark Yomra mountain sledding facility as a showcase of Trabzon’s tourism potential. In addition, Ambassador Jiang highlighted the “Investment Island” concept, noting that more than 100 Chinese firms already operate in Turkey with cumulative investments exceeding US$3 billion. Chinese interests focus on renewable energy, 5G and biomedical sectors, and both sides expressed readiness to continue negotiations with the provincial governor and municipal authorities to deepen cooperation.

The visit aims to promote longer stays for Chinese tourists in Trabzon and to attract further Chinese private investment to the region.
