Trabzonspor secures 4-3 comeback victory over Çaykur Rizespor
In a high-scoring Trendyol Süper Lig derby, Trabzonspor overcame a two-goal deficit to defeat Çaykur Rizespor 4-3 at the Çaykur Didi Stadium. Çaykur Rizespor took an early lead in the first half through two goals from Gennaro Borrelli in the 12th and 32nd minutes.
Trabzonspor launched a decisive second-half comeback, scoring three goals in just eight minutes via Melih Kabasakal, Aral Şimşir, and Franculino Dju. Although Rizespor’s Qazim Laçi equalized in the 68th minute, Franculino Dju secured the win for the visitors with his second goal of the match in the 83rd minute.
Following the match, Rizespor officials expressed strong frustration regarding refereeing decisions, specifically citing missed penalty appeals and disciplinary actions. Trabzonspor manager Thomas Reis noted that while the first half was poor, the team’s second-half attitude and clinical performance justified the result. The win moves Trabzonspor to 19 points, temporarily placing them second in the league standings.
