Trabzonspor Nigerian players approach club scoring record

Nigerian footballers at Trabzonspor are approaching the club record for most goals scored by players of a single nationality. Currently, Nigerian players have recorded 107 goals, trailing Georgia, which holds the record with 109 goals.

Anthony Nwakaeme has contributed 50 of these goals, while Paul Onuachu has recorded 43. Other contributors include Eddy Onazi with 7, Isaac Promise with 4, and Chibuike Nwaiwu with 3.

Despite the proximity to the record, striker Paul Onuachu has struggled to find the net in the new season, extending a goalless streak that includes pre-season matches. Trabzonspor head coach Fatih Tekke has defended the striker, urging patience and citing Onuachu’s significant contribution of 26 goals during the previous season. Onuachu aims to break his drought during the upcoming UEFA Europa League play-off rematch against Ferencvaros.
