Trabzonspor pursues Artem Bondarenko transfer

Trabzonspor is reportedly revisiting its interest in Ukrainian midfielder Artem Bondarenko. The club previously attempted to secure the 26-year-old from Shakhtar Donetsk, but negotiations stalled due to a valuation gap between Trabzonspor’s €7–8 million offer and Shakhtar’s €12 million demand.

Bondarenko is currently on loan at the Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli. While some reports indicate a mandatory purchase clause, official statements from Shakhtar Donetsk described the move as a loan with an option to buy. The player has seen limited playing time in Saudi Arabia, appearing in four matches for a total of 182 minutes.

Trabzonspor manager Thomas Reis is said to be keen on evaluating the player personally. To facilitate this, the club’s scouting team is expected to travel to Saudi Arabia to monitor Bondarenko’s performance. The versatile midfielder, standing 1.87 meters tall, is noted for his ability to play as a number 10, central midfielder, or on the right wing.
