Trabzonspor pushes for permanent signing of goalkeeper Andre Onana

Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan confirmed that the Turkish club is working intensively to secure Cameroon goalkeeper André Onana on a permanent basis after his loan spell, saying, “We meet with Onana every day … we will make the necessary sacrifices.” Onana made 33 appearances for Trabzonspor, kept six clean sheets and helped the side win the Turkish Super Cup, prompting the club to pursue a full transfer despite the absence of a purchase clause in the loan agreement.

Meanwhile, Onana has returned to Manchester United for pre‑season while his long‑term future remains unsettled. United have installed Senne Lammens as first‑choice keeper and view Onana as surplus to requirements. The club faces a wage issue, with Onana earning about £120 000 per week, and is looking for a solution that may involve a permanent move back to Trabzonspor or another loan. Other Turkish clubs, including Beşiktaş, have also shown interest, but financial terms remain a hurdle.
