Denis Drăguș loan option discussed as Trabzonspor trims squad and FCSB eyes Romanian striker
Trabzonspor included Romanian forward Denis Drăguș in its pre‑season camp in Austria while leaving out several other players, such as John Lundstram, Batista Mendy, Cihan and Göktan. Club officials suggested the coach wanted to reassess Drăguș’s role, possibly testing him in different positions.
Romanian side FCSB (Steaua) was linked to a €1.5 million transfer offer from owner Gigi Becali, but Becali publicly denied any intention to pay a transfer fee, stating he would only consider a loan for Drăguș. He said, "I am still waiting for Denis Drăguș, but I will not pay any transfer fee. If it happens, I will take him on loan."
FCSB coach Marius Baciu confirmed the player could join on loan and would not automatically replace any starter, emphasizing a rotation policy. Baciu noted the club does not have a fixed starting eleven and would integrate Drăguș without displacing current players.
Drăguș originally signed with Trabzonspor for €1.7 million after a stint at Standard Liège, followed by loan spells at Eyüpspor and Gaziantep FK, where his performances fell short of expectations. His future with Trabzonspor is expected to be clarified in the coming days.
