Tractian becomes Brazil's newest AI unicorn with $1.4 billion valuation

Brazilian AI startup Tractian has reached unicorn status following a $130 million Series D funding round. The investment brings the company's valuation to $1.4 billion, making it the most valuable AI startup in Latin America.

The funding round was led by Sapphire Ventures and co-led by Catalyst, the growth equity division of the British firm M&G. Other participating investors include General Catalyst, Bosch Ventures, Monashees, Endeavor Catalyst, Norte Ventures, and Y Combinator.

Tractian plans to use the capital over the next five years to scale its 'physical AI' thesis, focusing on research and development. This includes training large language models and purchasing Nvidia processors. The company's platform utilizes vibration and ultrasound sensors to monitor industrial equipment, using an agent layer trained on extensive industrial failure databases to provide diagnostics and root cause analysis.
