Tractor collisions in Austria cause serious injuries in Upper Austria and other regions

On 19 June 2026 a 31‑year‑old driver of a tractor with trailer entered the intersection at Rottenegg in St. Gotthard, Mühlkreis, Upper Austria and collided at right angles with a 48‑year‑old motorcyclist turning onto Rodlstraße. The motorcyclist and his 28‑year‑old German passenger were thrown over the tractor’s hood and suffered serious injuries. Both were taken by helicopter to Kepler University Hospital and the UKH for treatment.

Over the same weekend a series of other tractor‑related accidents were reported across Austrian states. In Mittersill (Pinzgau) a tractor with trailer rolled down a steep slope but no one was injured. An all‑terrain vehicle (Allrad‑Muli) slipped in the same area, injuring one person who was taken to hospital. In Pfongau (Flachgau) a 52‑year‑old driver of a tractor collided with a moped, sending the 15‑year‑old rider to the University Hospital Salzburg with injuries. Near Bad Ischl (Gmunden district) a 60‑year‑old operator of a front loader lost control, the machine travelled about 250 m down a valley and struck a commercial building, injuring the operator who was hospitalized.
