Trade Minister Budi Santoso attends G20 meeting in the US

Indonesian Trade Minister Budi Santoso has traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to participate in the G20 Trade Ministers' Meeting held from September 30 to October 1, 2026. The meeting serves as a strategic forum to discuss priority trade agendas under the 2026 United States G20 Presidency.

Santoso aims to advocate for Indonesia's national trade interests while supporting a fair, open, and rules-based multilateral trading system. He emphasized that Indonesia is committed to ensuring all G20 initiatives align with World Trade Organization (WTO) regulations to provide certainty for domestic exporters.

The ministerial sessions will focus on four primary areas: the weaponization of food through coercive trade measures, structural overcapacity and production, Most-Favored-Nation (MFN) principles, and the elimination of forced labor within global supply chains. Additionally, Santoso is scheduled to engage with Business 20 representatives and hold bilateral talks with key trading partners to expand export market access.
