Trade Minister Ömer Bolat visits Çorum to discuss regional economy
Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat conducted a series of official visits in Çorum, meeting with local officials including Governor Ali Çalgan and Mayor Halil İbrahim Aşgın to discuss regional development and economic targets.
During the visit, Mayor Aşgın highlighted the economic success of the municipal subsidiary Beltaş, which is projected to reach a turnover of approximately 700 million lira in 2025. Beltaş plays a significant role in food production, supplying products such as meat and bread through channels like Tarım Kredi Kooperatifleri across Turkey.
Minister Bolat emphasized Çorum’s strategic importance in sectors such as agriculture, mining, and defense manufacturing. He noted that public investments in the city have totaled 120 billion lira over the last 23.5 years. Regarding national economic goals, Bolat stated that Turkey aims for defense industry exports to reach 12.5 billion dollars, following a trajectory where exports have grown significantly since 2001.
