Trading card markets see activity in vintage Marvel sets and Magic: The Gathering deals

The trading card market continues to see significant activity across both vintage and modern collectibles. A complete set of 1966 Donruss Marvel Super Heroes cards, which represents Marvel Comics’ first entry into the trading card market, recently sold at Heritage Auctions for $48,750. This price, including the buyer’s premium, averages to approximately $700 per card. The 60-year-old set features characters such as Spider-Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, and the X-Men in a playful gag-cartoon style.

In the modern market, Magic: The Gathering’s The Hobbit Play Booster Box has reached a new price low. Amazon is currently offering the 30-pack display for $169, a reduction from its $213.99 list price. Other retailers such as Walmart and TCGplayer are also offering competitive pricing for the set, with TCGplayer listings starting near $159.88.
