Traditional Anatolian folk poetry events held in Kahramanmaraş and Bornova
Cultural events celebrating the Anatolian tradition of 'âşıklık' (folk poetry and musical improvisation) were held in Kahramanmaraş and Bornova.
In Kahramanmaraş, the Metropolitan Municipality organized a program at the historic Kahramanmaraş Castle as part of the Abdurrahim Karakoç Culture and Art Season. In collaboration with the Kahramanmaraş Folk Poets Culture and Solidarity Association, local folk poets performed improvised musical duels and poetic exchanges to preserve the city's cultural heritage.
In Bornova, the municipality partnered with the Anatolian Poets Association to host the 'Legacy of the Saz: Master & Apprentice Meeting' at the Altındağ Atatürk Cultural Center. The event featured prominent representatives of the tradition, including Turgut Yılmaz and Osman Feryadı, alongside young apprentices. Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized the importance of passing this oral history and musical heritage to younger generations.
