Traditional Leonhardi horse processions held in Bavaria

Traditional Leonhardi processions, religious pilgrimages honoring Saint Leonhard, were held in the Miesbach district of Germany.

In Roßholzen, the Leonhardi Association organized a procession featuring decorated horses, festive carriages, and participants in traditional costumes. The event included a service led by Deacon Günter Schmitzberger, who provided blessings for both people and animals.

In Reichersdorf, the Leonhardi season commenced with a large-scale event attended by approximately 2,000 spectators. The procession included 166 horses, 66 riders, and 29 elaborately decorated carriages and wagons circling the St. Leonhard branch church. Pater Michael of the Teutonic Order led the field service, emphasizing that the event is a living pilgrimage intended to seek blessings for humanity, animals, and nature rather than a mere spectacle.
