Traditional Leonhardi processions prepare for upcoming celebrations
Preparations are underway for various traditional Leonhardi processions in Germany. In Bad Tölz, the 171st Leonhardifahrt is scheduled for November 6, 2026. During a recent drawing of the carriage order, 73 teams were registered. Several farms were honored for their long-standing participation, including the farms of Johann Gerg and Johann Heiß from Lenggries, who are celebrating their 60th joint participation. Other honorees include Tobias Stadler, Sebastian Seidl, Johann Kappelsberger, and Josef Huber, each marking 50 participations, and Josef Mayr, marking 40.
In Großaitingen, the 52nd Leonhardiritt is set to take place on October 25. The event serves as a religious and community tradition focused on seeking blessings for humans and animals. Local participants, such as 16-year-old Sophia Käfer, prepare horses with elaborate decorations for the procession.
