Traditional Yayla Migration Festival Celebrated in Akpınar, Trabzon

Residents of Akpınar neighbourhood in the Akçaabat district of Trabzon province organized the sixth edition of their traditional yayla migration festival. Villagers dressed in regional folk costumes and led intricately decorated cattle, accompanied by drums, zurna and kemençe, as they walked toward Büyük Oba Plateau. The procession featured continuous horon dances, local musicians, and food stalls serving regional specialties. Despite rain and fog, the celebration continued, drawing participants from nearby towns as well as visitors from other parts of Turkey. Organisers emphasized the aim of preserving a centuries‑old custom and passing it on to younger generations.
