Traetta Opera Festival hosts educational theater in Bitonto
As part of the Traetta Opera Festival, the Teatro Comunale di Bitonto is hosting a series of matinée performances titled ‘Pulcinella e Tommasino alla scuola del Turchino’ from Monday, October 5, to Thursday, October 8. The event is designed for primary school students and involves hundreds of children.
Written and performed by Maurizio Pellegrini and Massimiliano Mastroeni, with Rebecca Maria Brindicci on piano, the production uses the traditional Italian character Pulcinella to guide young audiences through 18th-century Naples. The story features an imaginary encounter between Pulcinella and the young Tommaso Traetta, a composer from Bitonto who became a major reformer of 18th-century melodrama.
The initiative aims to provide an educational experience that combines history, music, and theater, encouraging children to discover music as a tool for personal growth and expression.
