Traffic accidents in Argentina and Ecuador cause fatalities and injuries
Two separate serious traffic accidents have been reported in Argentina and Ecuador.
In Argentina, a collision occurred on Provincial Route 135 near the Colón Hippodrome during the early hours of Saturday. Three young workers traveling in a Volkswagen toward a local meatpacking plant were struck by another vehicle. Two of the occupants sustained serious injuries, with one remaining in intensive care at Hospital San Benjamín. Authorities are investigating whether the driver of the second vehicle was under the influence of alcohol.
In Ecuador, a fatal accident occurred on the Santa Elena-Guayaquil road when a personnel transport bus carrying 46 agricultural workers collided with a gasoline tanker. One victim, 29-year-old Edison Catuto Pilay, died following the crash. Nineteen people remain hospitalized, including three in critical condition. The Ecuadorian Transit Commission (CTE) is currently investigating the circumstances of the collision.
