Traffic accidents in Italy result in injuries and road closures

Two separate traffic accidents in Italy have resulted in injuries and significant travel disruptions.

In Vimodrone, a 35-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured on October 22, 2026, following a collision between a Yamaha T Max scooter and a Volkswagen Polo on the Padana Superiore near the intersection with via Gramsci. The rider was thrown from the vehicle and struck a signpost. Emergency services, including an ambulance and a helicopter, transported the individual to San Raffaele hospital in ‘code red’ condition.

In the Mirano area of Venice, a three-car collision occurred on the Passante di Mestre on October 21, 2026, near kilometer 377. One vehicle overturned in the roadway, requiring an emergency helicopter evacuation for a seriously injured occupant. The accident caused temporary closures and significant traffic congestion in both directions, necessitating diversions via the A27 for drivers heading toward Milan and temporary blocks for traffic heading toward Trieste.
