Traffic accidents in Peru leave multiple people injured
Two separate traffic accidents in Peru have resulted in several injuries.
In Arequipa, a triple collision involving an interprovincial bus, a small transport vehicle, and a dump truck occurred on the Arequipa-Yura highway near the Ciudad Municipal district. Preliminary police reports suggest the dump truck attempted to enter a service station, intercepting the path of the small transport vehicle, which was then struck from behind by a Solórzano company bus traveling from Puno to Arequipa. Seven people were injured and transported to the San Juan de Dios clinic, including a bus driver who had to be rescued from the wreckage.
In Juliaca, a public transport van lost control and struck a street light pole near the Universidad Andina Néstor Cáceres Velásquez. The accident injured several passengers, including two 17-year-olds, two 21-year-olds, and an 8-year-old child. The victims were taken to the Hospital Carlos Monge Medrano. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
