Traffic accidents reported in Czech Republic and Slovakia

Several significant traffic accidents have been reported in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

In Prague, Czech politician Filip Turek was involved in a collision between his Mercedes-Benz and a medical transport vehicle from Na Homolce Hospital. Police records initially categorized the cause as ‘reckless, aggressive and inconsiderate driving,’ though officials clarified this is an automated classification and does not yet reflect the results of the ongoing investigation. The accident resulted in 340,000 CZK in damages and a medium-severity head injury to the ambulance driver. Turek has denied fault, suggesting he may have saved a life through his reaction.

In Slovakia, a fatal multi-vehicle collision occurred on the I/75 road between Tvrdošovce and Nové Zámky. A Peugeot struck a stationary van before veering into oncoming traffic and colliding with a Tesla. The driver of the Peugeot and a female passenger both died. A minor in the vehicle was reportedly uninjured.

Other incidents in Slovakia included a truck accident in Krásny Brod where boulders spilled onto a railway track, causing damage to infrastructure, and a collision in Dolný Kubín where a car struck a young boy, requiring a helicopter medical evacuation.
