Traffic accidents reported in Tijuana and Mérida
Two separate traffic accidents occurred on October 21, 2026, in Tijuana and Mérida, resulting in material damage but no reported injuries.
In Tijuana, a collision took place at the IMOS turnaround on Boulevard 2000. A Nissan Versa struck a Ford Ranger driven by a 68-year-old mason. The impact pushed the truck onto the central median of Boulevard Nogales. While no injuries were reported, the driver faced significant hardship as the vehicle is his primary tool for work. Firefighters attended the scene to manage potential fluid spills and traffic congestion.
In Mérida, a Volkswagen Virtus collided with a grocery delivery truck at the intersection of 8th and 61st streets in the Esperanza neighborhood. The accident occurred when the Virtus driver proceeded through an intersection after stopping, leading to a collision with the approaching truck. Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage, but no individuals were injured. Local security forces responded, and both parties involved engaged their insurance providers to resolve the damages.
