Traffic changes and safety concerns reported in Brazilian cities
In Belém, the Metropolitan Transport Management Nucleus has implemented temporary traffic diversions due to construction on the city's sixth viaduct. These changes affect drivers on Avenida João Paulo II and Avenida Perimetral, restricting traditional access to Avenida Almirante Barroso and the São Brás neighborhood. To navigate these blocks, drivers must use Travessa Enéas Pinheiro, which has been adapted to operate in two directions up to João Paulo II and in a single direction toward Almirante Barroso. Additionally, heavy vehicles exceeding 10 tons are prohibited from using Travessa Enéas Pinheiro daily between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
In Brusque, local councilman Valdir Hinselmann has called for improved traffic signaling to prevent accidents involving heavy vehicles. The request follows a recent accident involving a large truck on Rua Andrino Bento Amorim. Hinselmann noted that drivers are often directed toward unsuitable routes by GPS applications and suggested installing signage that clearly indicates weight restrictions. He also requested increased dust control measures on Estrada da Cristalina due to rising heavy vehicle traffic in the area.
