Traffic culture and driving habits impact safety and vehicle maintenance

In Prijedor, discussions regarding traffic culture highlight the need for increased caution among both drivers and pedestrians, particularly at crosswalks. Local residents and driving instructors note that while many drivers stop for pedestrians, the overall level of traffic culture remains a concern. Mladen Kunić, owner of Auto-škola Zoka, emphasizes that safety relies on continuous education and the development of better habits from a young age to combat issues like speeding and mobile phone use.

Additionally, technical driving habits are being identified as factors in vehicle wear and tear. For drivers of manual transmission vehicles, keeping the clutch depressed and first gear engaged while waiting at traffic lights can place unnecessary strain on the release bearing. Experts suggest shifting to neutral and releasing the clutch during long stops to reduce long-term component wear. Similarly, drivers are advised against resting their hands on the gear shifter, as constant pressure can damage internal transmission parts.
