Traffic enforcement intensifies in San Salvador and Tegucigalpa

Authorities in El Salvador and Honduras have increased enforcement measures to improve road safety and reduce congestion in their respective capital regions.

In San Salvador, the Vice Ministry of Transport (VMT) is utilizing an automated photo-fine system to sanction drivers and freight transport. The system has identified heavy transport units violating restricted circulation hours on access routes to the capital. Additionally, cameras have recorded motorists running red lights and entering intersections illegally, behaviors the VMT notes pose risks to pedestrians and other drivers.

In Tegucigalpa, the National Directorate of Roads and Transport (DNVT) has intensified operations starting at 5:00 a.m. to penalize illegal parking. Officials are targeting vehicles parked in prohibited zones, such as yellow lines and boulevards, which contribute to significant traffic congestion. The DNVT is maintaining strategic control points to ensure compliance with traffic laws and alleviate road blockages.
