Traffic fatalities rise among young drivers and motorcyclists in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Traffic safety data from the first seven months of 2026 reveals a high rate of accidents involving young drivers and motorcyclists in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In Republika Srpska, 1,499 accidents involved drivers under 21 years old or those with less than three years of driving experience. Of the nine fatal accidents involving this demographic, speeding was identified as the primary cause in eight cases. Additionally, nine people died on the roads of Republika Srpska during this period, including eight motorcyclists and one moped rider.
In a separate incident on the M-17 highway, a motorcyclist from Tešanj died after losing control of a Suzuki motorcycle and veering off the road in the Karuše settlement near Doboj Jug. Police investigations were conducted to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
