Multiple fatal road accidents and infrastructure works reported across Africa

Multiple fatal road accidents and major infrastructure developments have been reported across several regions.

In Cameroon, a violent collision between an Avenir transport bus and a truck near Édéa on National Road 3 resulted in approximately 12 deaths and numerous serious injuries. This incident follows previous major accidents involving the same transport agency.

In Senegal, a collision on the Louga-Niomré road involving a Peugeot 406 and a concrete truck killed three people, including a seven-year-old girl, while four others were injured. The victims were reportedly traveling for religious celebrations.

Other notable incidents include a fatal three-truck collision in Koumoniadè, Togo, caused by suspected brake failure, and a tragedy in Macenta, Guinea, where a family of four died after being struck by a truck with mechanical issues. In France, a single-vehicle accident near La Flèche left six people injured, four of them critically.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kinshasa authorities announced a 12-month traffic suspension at the Mitendi intersection starting August 23, 2026, to facilitate the construction of a strategic interchange connecting National Road 1 to the South-West Bypass.
