Traffic Jam Halts A1 Highway Near Lučko Toll Plaza in Croatia

Around 11:15 a.m. on Monday, traffic on Croatia’s A1 highway stopped completely just after the Lučko toll plaza heading south, causing some drivers and passengers to leave their vehicles. The congestion eased after about half an hour but remained severe, with long queues extending several kilometres.

The Croatian Automobile Club reported that traffic is generally heavier on routes toward the sea, especially on motorways, and that occasional delays are occurring in construction zones and at temporary traffic controls. On the A1, the flow between the Lučko and Zadar East interchanges is slowed in both directions. Additional bottlenecks are caused by several incidents: a crash in the Sveti Marko tunnel restricting traffic to a single lane with a 40 km/h speed limit, a collision near the Novigrad–Bosiljevo 1 stretch creating a long queue from Karlovac, and a similar accident in the Dubrave tunnel. Other affected sections include the Zagreb bypass (A3), the A2 Zagreb–Macelj corridor, the Istrian "ipsilon" route, the Krk bridge, and the state road DC1 near Otrić. Drivers have been urged to adjust speed and driving style to conditions.
