Italy experiences multiple fatal road accidents and traffic chaos
Italy has experienced a series of severe road accidents and traffic disruptions across various regions during the summer travel period.
In the Vibonense area, a fatal collision involving three cars on the ex SS 522 in Zambrone resulted in one death and multiple injuries. A subsequent accident in Briatico involving a motorcyclist required emergency helicopter transport. In Serracapriola, a van carrying Moroccan agricultural workers overturned, causing one death and eight injuries.
Other notable incidents include a multi-vehicle crash on the A10 motorway near Spotorno involving six people, including two children, and a collision in Gudo Visconti involving a reportedly stolen scooter that left two young women injured. On the A14, traffic was heavily congested due to an accident near San Benedetto del Tronto and roadworks following a vehicle fire.
Additional incidents were reported on the A20 near Brolo involving a burning truck, a multi-vehicle crash on the A29 near Torretta, and a three-vehicle collision on the A27 in Spresiano. In Monza, local authorities expressed concern over ongoing bridge construction projects affecting city traffic. A cyclist also died following a fall in the Santa Maria del Giogo area.
