Traffic offenses in Valencian Community lead to judicial proceedings

In the Valencian Community, over 250 drivers were referred to judicial authorities in August for traffic-related offenses. According to the Guardia Civil, the primary causes for these legal proceedings were driving under the influence of alcohol and operating vehicles without a valid license or permit.

Of the 254 drivers involved, 90 were processed for driving without a license. This group included 37 individuals who had lost all their driving points, five who were under judicial restriction, and one who received a permanent license revocation. Additionally, 47 individuals had never obtained a license at all. Alcohol-related offenses accounted for 152 cases, involving blood alcohol levels significantly higher than administrative limits.

In the province of Valencia alone, authorities processed 42 drivers for lacking valid licenses and 74 for driving under the influence of alcohol. Two additional cases involving drug use were also recorded.

These enforcement actions coincide with a broader shift in Spanish traffic surveillance. The DGT has expanded its fleet of mobile Veloláser devices to approximately 130 units. These lightweight, laser-based speed cameras allow officers to deploy controls in various locations, including tripods or vehicles, without the need for permanent installations. A recent week-long enforcement campaign utilizing these technologies resulted in 78,000 citations across more than 1.2 million controlled vehicles.
