Traffic regulations enforced for motorcycles and heavy vehicles in Venezuela and Argentina
Traffic authorities and legal experts in Venezuela and Argentina are addressing violations of road safety and infrastructure preservation laws.
In Venezuela, legal specialist Carla Natera noted that motorcyclists are frequently driving between the fast and middle lanes of highways, causing difficulties for car drivers. Under the 2008 Land Transport Law and its 2011 regulations, motorcycles are required to circulate on the shoulder (hombrillo) and are expressly prohibited from traveling in groups one behind another on the national road network.
In Argentina, municipal authorities in Lobería issued fines to two truck drivers for damaging rural roads. According to National Traffic and Road Safety Law No. 24,449, heavy vehicles are prohibited from traveling on muddy roads for 72 hours following rainfall to prevent infrastructure deterioration. One driver from Cañuelas was cited near San Manuel, while another from Balcarce was fined for causing significant damage to the access road to Arenas Verdes.
