Traffic restrictions and delays reported on German bridges

In Leipzig, the Beipert Bridge on Schleußiger Weg will face renewed traffic restrictions starting Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Due to severe damage discovered on the outward-bound pedestrian and cycle path, the path and one outer driving lane will be closed for approximately three weeks to facilitate repairs. Pedestrians and cyclists will be redirected to the inner lane, while all motor vehicles, including bus lines 60 and 74, will use one of the opposing lanes. The 1927 structure is aging, and plans for a replacement building are being discussed for potential budgeting as early as 2034.

In Merzig, the reopening of the Hilbringer Bridge has been delayed due to weather conditions. The State Road Construction Department (LfS) reported that recent rainfall has prevented essential work, such as road sealing and asphalt application, which requires dry surfaces. The new target for reopening the bridge to motorized traffic is between November 9 and November 15, 2026, though this date remains subject to change depending on the weather.
