Traffic safety concerns rise in İzmir and Alanya following multiple accidents
Residents in several Turkish districts are calling for urgent traffic safety improvements following a series of accidents. In the Bayraklı district of İzmir, pedestrians face significant danger on Anadolu Avenue due to high vehicle speeds, narrow sidewalks, and faded pedestrian crossings. The concerns follow a serious accident where a university student was severely injured by a municipal bus.
Similarly, in the Kestel neighborhood of Alanya, a junction connecting to a university campus has become a site of frequent accidents, with three reported in a single week. Local residents and officials have highlighted the need for better signaling and speed control measures, noting that the area serves as a critical route for university, tourism, and industrial traffic. While Alanya Municipality has begun infrastructure and asphalt works on İsa Küçülmez Street, locals continue to demand permanent solutions to prevent further injuries and fatalities.
