Traffic safety concerns rise in Serbia and Montenegro following fatal accidents

Authorities in Serbia and Montenegro are highlighting rising road safety concerns following recent traffic incidents. In Serbia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a warning to young drivers on International Youth Day, noting that young people are among the most vulnerable road users. The Ministry reported that every fourth person killed in traffic accidents in Serbia is a young person, citing lack of experience, excessive speed, and nighttime driving as primary risks.

In Montenegro, police reported 26 traffic accidents within a 24-hour period, resulting in one fatality and five minor injuries. The accidents were distributed across several regions, including seven in Podgorica, six in Nikšić, and three each in Bar and Kotor. During this period, police issued 680 fines and filed 54 misdemeanor reports.
