Traffic spikes installed at Serbian National Assembly parking

One-way traffic control spikes have been installed at the entrance to the parking lot near the National Assembly of Serbia on Nikola Pašić Square. These metal spikes are embedded in the roadway and are designed to deploy when a vehicle attempts to travel in a prohibited direction, potentially puncturing tires and damaging vehicles.

Stefan Simić, a councilor for the Movement of Free Citizens, criticized the installation on social media, specifically targeting Belgrade Mayor Aleksandar Šapić. Simić expressed dissatisfaction with the new barrier, suggesting the measures were excessive.

While these specific spikes are not explicitly mentioned in the Serbian Traffic Signaling Regulations, they are currently in use within the country. The parking area at Nikola Pašić Square is part of zone A.3, which allows for a maximum stay of 30 minutes. The Belgrade Secretariat for Transport has been contacted for further clarification regarding the measure.
