Tragedy in Kentucky and barracuda attack in Turks and Caicos

In Kentucky, a 61-year-old doctor, Stacey Fazenbaker, accidentally left her infant granddaughter, Scottie Crowell, in a parked car for approximately eight hours on August 13. The child remained in the vehicle while Fazenbaker worked at Owensboro Health Multicare. With outdoor temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius, the child was found unconscious in her car seat later that afternoon and was pronounced dead despite emergency efforts.

Separately, in the Turks and Caicos Islands, a 13-year-old girl named Claire Macdonel was attacked by a barracuda while snorkeling. The fish bit her arm, likely attracted by a shiny bracelet she was wearing. A bystander applied a makeshift tourniquet to control heavy bleeding until paramedics arrived. Macdonel underwent surgery for nerve, tendon, and ligament damage, but doctors expect her to regain full function of her arm through rehabilitation.
