Global reports detail various criminal incidents and fatal fires

Various incidents involving crime and fire have been reported across several regions. In Oran, Algeria, the Gendarmerie nationale dismantled a neighborhood gang after a video of them setting fire to a home went viral.

In France, the Gendarmerie nationale launched ‘Operation Nemus’ to combat widespread forest fires that have burned over 75,000 hectares this season. Authorities have already arrested 474 people in connection with fires nationwide.

Tragic fires have also been reported in Africa. In Mouila, Gabon, six children died when two wooden houses burned down; a candle is suspected to be the cause. In Mudusa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, a fire killed two people and left over 100 households displaced.

In Senegal, police in Grand-Yoff have conducted separate operations, arresting one individual suspected of the rape and pregnancy of a 16-year-old, and three others involved in a series of violent motorcycle thefts and assaults.
