TRAI launches Digital Connectivity Rating platform for properties

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has launched the Digital Connectivity Rating (DCR) Platform to provide consumers with transparent information regarding the digital infrastructure of properties. The platform allows buyers and tenants to assess a property's readiness for digital services, including fiber connectivity, mobile network availability within buildings, in-building mobile solutions, and Wi-Fi infrastructure.

Under the framework, property managers for residential, commercial, and public buildings can register their properties for assessment by a registered Digital Connectivity Rating Agency (DCRA). These agencies use a dedicated mobile application to conduct measurements and record results, which are then synchronized with the main platform for certification. The system covers both existing buildings and under-construction properties to encourage developers to integrate connectivity infrastructure during the development stage.

Consumers can use a public interface to search for rated properties by name, location, or certificate ID. Each property features a digitally signed rating certificate that can be verified via a QR code. TRAI Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti stated that the platform aims to empower consumers with credible, comparable information to facilitate more informed decisions regarding property purchases or leases.
