Traian Băsescu criticizes President Nicușor Dan over political deadlock

Former Romanian President Traian Băsescu has criticized President Nicușor Dan regarding the ongoing political crisis and the delay in appointing a new prime minister. Băsescu argued that the President bears the primary constitutional responsibility to resolve the deadlock and accused the current administration of showing contempt for the Romanian people by waiting for parliamentary parties to guarantee a majority before making a nomination.

Băsescu also commented on the status of Ilie Bolojan, suggesting that the President benefits from Bolojan remaining in a diminished role without real legal authority. Furthermore, Băsescu addressed the electorate, urging citizens to be more discerning in their voting habits to avoid repeating past political outcomes. He suggested that the only way to reset the political class and resolve the current instability is through new elections, rather than relying on the existing dominance of the PSD and PNL parties.
