Traian Băsescu criticizes UDMR political influence in Romania
Former Romanian President Traian Băsescu has criticized the UDMR political party, suggesting they should be removed from Romanian political affairs. Băsescu accused the party of having excessive ties to Budapest and attempting to exert undue influence in Bucharest. He also dismissed the possibility of a UDMR representative becoming Prime Minister, calling such a scenario ridiculous.
In response, UDMR leader Kelemen Hunor issued an ironic rebuttal, labeling Băsescu a “product of the communist dictatorship” and the “Securitate.”
Additionally, Băsescu addressed the country's political stability, warning that early elections could cause chaos if the national budget is not prioritized first. He also raised concerns regarding the healthcare system, describing the lack of essential medical supplies for treating stroke patients as a “criminal” situation.
