Nicușor Dan condemns intimidation of journalist CTP

Romanian President Nicușor Dan and Senate President Mircea Abrudean have condemned an act of intimidation directed at journalist Cristian Tudor Popescu. Supporters of Călin Georgescu gathered near the Central Arrest facility in Bucharest, where they used candles to form the journalist's initials, “CTP”, while performing a funeral ritual and singing “Veșnica pomenire”. President Dan described the gestures as “inacceptable” and warned that political disagreements must not be used as tools for harassment or threats against the press.

In a separate political development, AUR leader George Simion has called for the suspension of President Nicușor Dan. Simion announced he is providing the PSD with a signature collection table, aiming to reach the 155 parliamentary signatures required to initiate the constitutional procedure. Former President Traian Băsescu noted that a suspension could become possible if the PSD joins the AUR's efforts, drawing parallels to previous political maneuvers involving the PSD and the presidency.
